Stan Van Gundy Told Dwight To Choose Houston
Dwight Howard was looking for guidance when deciding which team he should choose to play for this off season, and the usually indecisive Howard was going to many sources to seek advice. He had gone through this issue before while in Orlando, where he left as a man derided by fans, some teammates, and ex-coaches.
One of those ex-coaches, Stan Van Gundy, had a love-hate relationship with Dwight. While they had an incredible Finals run in 2009, near the end of Van Gundy's tenure in Orlando the two had a tenuous relationship at best. The two seem to have man amends with Van Gundy relaxing more while being off the sidelines, and Howard leaving Orlando, and this led to an intriguing bit of news as it turns out that Stan Van had suggested to D12 that he head to Houston.
Dwight Howard told me that Stan Van Gundy told him he should go to Houston. Very interesting ...— Bill Reiter (@foxsportsreiter) October 2, 2013
Of course as you'll recall, the two starred in the most awkward interview of the 2011-2012 season.
