Dolan reportedly called the meeting before practice a day after the team's 29-point loss at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder. There has been speculation that coach Mike Woodson could be fired and trades could be made. The Knicks are 9-19.
It is believed that Dolan is trying to convince the players to stick together and fully support Woodson to overcome the awful start to the season.
Woodson said after practice Thursday that he believes the team can still win the Atlantic Division.
"We won it last year, and I expect us to win it this year," he said.
Despite being 9-19, the division is still winnable for the Knicks. The Toronto Raptors lead the Atlantic, despite an 11-15 record. The Knicks are just three games behind and play the Raptors back-to-back, starting Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
"The beauty about all of this that we're going through is nobody's running away with it in our division, and I'm pushing our team to win our division still," Woodson said. "Eventually we'll get healthy, and we'll see how it all plays out."
