Seems nearly every franchise is being linked to rumors for 2014 free agency, and going to the Lakers or Knicks. The Pacers' new franchise player, Paul George, had been rumored to possibly return to his home in California after his contract was up this season. He had said that his intentions were to stay in Indiana, and now the NBA's Most Improved player says that it's official.
Speaking to The Indianapolis Star, George said that he'll not only have a contract in place this season, but it will be signed before the season starts.
“(A long-term contract) is going to get done,” George told The Indianapolis Star. “There will be a deal signed and sealed on the table before the season. We’re (George and Pacers management) on the same page.”
He was expected to stay, but having this squared away can only help the Pacers, who after pushing the Heat to 7 games in the ECF, and then picking up some solid bench players, are poised to make another deep run out East.
