Hakeem Olajuwon was brought on full time by the Houston Rockets to help train with Dwight Howard, and they have already put in work this off season. Following their first workout this year - Dwight had trained with Dream in the past - the media asked Olajuwon about the session, and he was quoted as saying, "as good as he is right now he's still very raw. But he has all the tools so I'm like a kid in a candy store."
Now the two-time NBA champion is saying that quote was taken out of context (or he was directly misquoted). Dwight's tutor is offended that the media would run with the "Dwight is raw" angle, which infers that the Rockets new center still needs work on his offensive game, and has a ways to develop.
“That was insulting,” Olajuwon said. “The guy’s been in the league for 10 years. Every time I work with him, I see him train, I’m more impressed to see how much talent and how far he can take it.
“So how can you say that kind of player is raw. I was very upset because that was insulting to me and to Dwight.”
