Playing in the biggest media market brings insane pressure, and the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks are too franchises that are trying desperately to win now. Carmelo Anthony has said that the Knicks "championship window" is now, and players from both teams have stated that they are built to win titles.
Now the Nets' GM, Billy King echoes that sentiment, and says what was already apparent, that the Brooklyn Nets need to win a championship now, as they have mortgaged off their future to acquire Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Jason Terry, and Andrei Kirilenko.
Billy King believes the Brooklyn Nets’ window to win a title is this season.
“Now, this is the window — this season,” the Nets’ general manager said Wednesday at Duke University, where the team is holding its training camp. “We’re going to see what we can do with this season, and then we’ll see what next season brings.”
With the cap-rules of the new CBA tightening every year, the Nets need to make a serious run this year at a title, or risk finding themselves in the same position the Lakers are in now. What's even worse, is they don't have all these salaries coming off the books like Los Angeles does in 2014.
