While on a Jay Mohr’s Fox Sports Radio show, T-Mac was asked to hypothetically suppose he was the talented wing player alongside Shaquille O’Neal in L.A. instead of Bryant. The former Magic small forward mentions that in the early 2000s he was up there with Kobe as one of the league’s best.
Then talking about his relationship with Shaq, McGrady says it never would have ended bitterly like it did with KB24 and Diesel because him and O’Neal get along.
“Numbers don’t lie. I was playing at a high level and was very confident when I was on the court.” [...]
“We would have had a great run,” he said when asked about Shaq. “I don’t know how many but, I know it would have never ended like it did with he and Kobe. I have a great relationship with Shaq. We would have never clashed heads like that. Two Alpha dogs going at there will always be (something going on).”
