Speculation is already warming up as to where LeBron James will be after his contract is up. He can opt out of his contract after this season, and there has been buzz he could go back home to Cleveland to join Kyrie Irving, or possibly join the major market Lakers, or even the Knicks.
Speaking to NBA.com, LeBron insists he has given it no thought as to what he’ll do after this season and is solely focused on grabbing his third straight NBA championship. He would not reveal any details, and says he would ideally stay put with the Heat, but follows that by saying the nature of the business dictates that you can’t make these decisions far in advance.
While the summer of 2014 is on the minds of many basketball fans, LeBron James said he hasn't even given it a thought. The Miami Heat superstar, who could headline next year's bumper crop of free agents, said at this point he doesn't know what he's going to do.
"I have absolutely no idea," James recently told ESPN.com. "I would love to spend the rest of my career in Miami with this great team and great organization as we continue to compete for championships. That's ideal. But we don't know what may happen from now to the end of the season. That's the nature of the business. It's the nature of not knowing what tomorrow brings.
James reveals next to nothing, and is waiting to see how this season plays out. Which could mean, should the Heat fall off significantly, he will entertain options from other teams. The Heat are defending two-time champs, but with the competition from Indiana, Chicago, New York, and Brooklyn out East, they will have their work cut out for them to advance to the Finals.
