LeBron James' goal of becoming the greatest player to ever play the game may be far off in the distance, but his goal of becoming an international icon is firmly established.
His latest endeavor sees him pairing with Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet to help design limited edition watches that will sell for $51,500. King James is an avid watch collector, so Audemars Piguet, who have worked with the likes of Shaquille O'Neal in the past, thought he would be a great fit.
Only 600 of the watches were created, and they feature LeBron's signature on the inside of the strap.
LeBron James, the NBA two-time champion and four-time most valued player, teamed up with Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet to design a $51,500 limited edition watch.
"I always liked watches growing up. When the opportunity presented itself it was easy to say yes," James told CNBC in Geneva, Switzerland, at the watch factory in late August.
The watch, called the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph, comes with an 18-karat pink gold case, black ceramic and diamond set push pieces, and a hand-stitched gray crocodile strap. Six-hundred of these watches went on sale at the end of September.
