More talk is coming out of the Nets camp, and this time there are rumblings of their point guard, Deron Williams, being in the discussion for MVP honors.
Battling through ankle injuries last year, D-Will saw a huge improvement in his game and numbers after the All Star break when he was finally able to get healthy. His squad finished fourth in the East, but now have title aspirations after adding Garnett, Pierce, and Terry. This has Jason Terry, and the Nets new head coach, Jason Kidd, talking MVP for Williams.
Two new members of the Nets, coach Jason Kidd and sixth man Jason Terry, have said Williams should be in the MVP conversation in 2013-14. And that has D-Will pumped up.
“It definitely excites me when they’re talking about you like that,” he told Bleacher Report. “I feel like if we’re winning and I’m playing well, it will take care of itself. I don’t get caught up too much into that stuff.”
Hopefully we can see a healthy D-Will again as he is one of the more exciting point guards in the game when he is, but mentioning MVP over the likes of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and even other point guards such as Chris Paul, and a more explosive Derrick Rose, seems overly ambitious.
