This past summer, after signing his $80 million contract extension, John Wall said in an interview that he thinks he's the best point guard in the NBA. Now, he did add an addendum that he was basing that on future potential, but did believe he was the best in the league at his position.
Following a string of very good games, where his team went 2-1, Wall went on record saying, "I'm the best point guard in the league. That's my statement."
Over the last few games he has put up 33 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2.7 steals a night, all on 61% shooting, but it would still be ludicrous to put him in the same category as Chris Paul, who is head and shoulders ahead of the pack at the one spot (especially since D. Rose has been injury plagued of late.)
You can't fault Wall's confidence. To be a max-level franchise guy, you have to believe you're the best on the floor.
