The Bulls (6-7) fell for the fourth consecutive time on their six-game road swing, losing on the same day they lost former MVP Derrick Rose for the rest of the season. Rose underwent successful surgery Monday morning in Chicago to repair the torn meniscus in his right knee. The All-Star point guard missed the entire 2012-13 season after having ACL surgery on his left knee.
"The fact that he's already done it once, he's got great mental toughness. He'll be fine," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said in his pregame interview. "It's another bump in the road. He'll get past it. I expect him to make a full recovery."
Utah scored the first seven points of OT, including a 3-pointer by Burke and a clinching dunk by forward Richard Jefferson with 14 seconds remaining. Burke had the ball in the open court but unselfishly passed it back to the 13-year veteran for the big slam.
Jefferson and guard Gordon Hayward scored 15 points as all five Jazz starters hit double figures. Hayward, who shot 5-for-15 from the field, dished out a career-high 12 assists. Burke made only five of 17 shots.
