Jason Maxiell Wants To Wear Horace Grant Goggles

Jason Maxiell signed with the Orlando Magic and decided to wear number 54, the same jersey number worn by one of the best forwards to play for the Orlando Magic, Horace Grant.

Not wanting to stop there with his homage to Grant, Maxiell has decided to wear the "Horace Grant Goggles."  Having had surgery for a detached retina, Jason has elected to wear protective goggles, like Amar'e Stoudemire does now.  Right now he's wearing the thinner "more stylish" style, but wants to wear the bulkier ones similar to what Horace Grant, and his brother Harvey Grant, wore.

Maxiell underwent surgery on Easter to correct a detached retina, and he will “most likely” wear protective goggles for his own safety throughout the season. “I don’t have to, but I would rather [wear them].” He’s still not sure when or how the original injury occurred.

Currently, Maxiell is wearing a sleeker and more stylish pair of goggles similar to the ones Bo Outlaw wore when he was with the Magic. Maxiell says the Grant goggles are “a little more durable, [and] a little more my style.”
