The NBA flirted with the idea of putting players' nicknames on the back of jerseys, and now we have specific dates of when it will happen.
Thanks to Spike Lee, who tweeted the picture or Ray Allen's "Jesus Shuttlesworth" jersey, we've learned the Miami Heat will wear nickname jerseys multiple times this season. The Heat will wear the NBA ‘Name Collection’ jerseys at home on Jan. 21 vs. Boston, March 12 vs. Brooklyn and April 8 against Brooklyn.”
We can already imagine "King James" and "Birdman" jerseys, but what about for Dwyane Wade? He said he wants to be called "Three" but we could also see him sticking with the "D-Wade" nickname.
It will be interesting to see how many other teams take on this trend. "The Truth" and "KG" will surely take part when the Heat showoff their 'Name Collection' joints later this season.
