Virginia Commonwealth's cold shooting from the floor helped Georgetown upset the No. 10 Rams 83-80 on Sunday in the fifth-place game at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan.

Guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 26 points and guard Markel Starks added 23 to lead the Hoyas (3-2), who won despite turning the ball over 26 times and committing 32 fouls. Guard Jabril Trawick and forward Nate Lubick both fouled out for Georgetown, and three other players finished with four fouls.

VCU (4-2) was led by guard Briante Weber, who scored 22 points and went 8-for-12 from the floor. Aside from Weber, however, the Rams couldn't find the basket. VCU shot 20-for-55 (36.4 percent) for the game, though it did go 34-for-47 from the free throw line.

The Hoyas made 32 of 37 free-throw attempts.

The Rams shot just 25 percent in the first half (7-for-28), but forced 14 turnovers and went 14-for-19 at the free throw line to lead 30-29.

Georgetown led 41-40 five minutes into the second half, but VCU used an 8-0 run to retake the lead. It was 50-43 Rams with 12:32 to play, but an 18-5 Georgetown run gave the Hoyas the lead for good.

The defeat ended a disappointing trip for Shaka Smart's team. VCU lost to Florida State in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off and beat Long Beach State in its first consolation bracket match.
