When the Miami Heat won Game 7 of this year's NBA Finals in Miami, American Airlines Arena exploded with jubilation and the wild celebration began. Before heading out to the club and buying 100s of bottles of custom Miami Heat champagne, the team poured into the locker room.
Heat fan, and friend of LeBron, rapper Drake tried to enter in the media entrance and was famously denied access. While on ESPN's Highly Questionable, Drizzy was asked about being denied entrace. He laughs it off, and says the security guard, who he refers to as "that old guy" was just being extra cautious, and adds that he is allowed in the Heat locker room.
"As a joke I tried to go in with the media through the media entrance, as they were all swarming in. That was a great night, one of the greatest nights of my life. But that was probably the highlight, getting denied by that old guy and it making news everywhere. That’s a classic moment. I’m allowed to go in the Heat locker room for the most part, I just tried to do it a funny way. It didn’t work out for me, I’ll never do it again.” [...]
"He knows like zero Drake songs, and I don't blame him, he was like 89 years old. I understand, hats off to that gentleman that was doing his due diligence as security."
Joining LBJ and company at the club later, the Toronto rapper calls the Heat's most recent championship the greatest night of his life, and it was mostly due to seeing LeBron revel in victory.
"To see someone I'm friends with achieve victory. Something he wanted really bad. Just to see him in all his glory with family and friends there."
Some are laughing this off, saying Drake is taking this all in stride, but he seems to keep taking pot-shots at the security guard in a patronizing way. If you watch the video, at the time Aubrey is genuinely frazzled that he is not allowed in.
