In an attempt to save face, Donald Sterling sat down with Anderson Cooper of CNN last night, and it didn't help his cause. Sterling offered a half-hearted apology, claimed not to be racist, and continued to attack Magic Johnson.
"That he would go and do what he did, and then get AIDS," he said. "Big, Magic Johnson, what has he done? He's got AIDS. What kind of a guy has sex with every girl, then he catches HIV. Is that someone we want to respect and tell our kids about? I think he should be ashamed of himself. I think he should go into the background. What does he do for the Black people?"
Ironically, NBA insiders believe Magic will get the last laugh, when he becomes new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. Many within the league feel that commissioner Adam Silver and the owners will award Magic and his ownership group's bid the franchise. This is certainly a cause for Sterling's ongoing attack on Magic, having the feeling that the 'fix is in.'
