Derrick Rose worked hard on strengthening his entire body in the past year-plus that he spent rehabbing his knee. He had told the media that he had gained around 10 pounds of muscle and felt he was stronger and more explosive than ever.
After making his pre season return to NBA action, it's apparent that Rose has his trademark explosion still, and now D Rose says his vertical has actually increased. Talking about his return, the Bulls point guard says he thinks he's jumping higher than before his injury and that his already ridiculous vertical leap has increased from 37 to 42 inches.
Rose, the former league MVP, said he’s gained five inches on his vertical leap since having surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee in May 2012.
“I think I jump higher,” Rose said after scoring 13 points in 20 minutes during the Bulls’ 82-76 victory against the Indiana Pacers. “I think coming into the league I was at 37 [inches vertical jump] and they tested my vertical at [a training facility], I’m probably at like a 42 [inches], so I’m jumping a little bit higher.”
