Keeping your competitive drive season after season is what makes repeating as NBA champion so difficult. The Miami Heat have made it to the Finals three straight years, and are owners of the last two titles. They are odds-on favorites to win again this season, but the main hurdle to overcome will be themselves.
Entering into this season, Chris Bosh wants to have the best season of his career, and talks about not being as focused as he usually is last season. Speaking on the team's media day, Bosh admits he didn't have "that hunger last year."
"I've really been hard on myself for not having that hunger last year," Bosh said. "I can't believe I didn't have it. But I'm excited. That's part of the reason why I'm so eager and ready to really get this season started. I feel I have a lot of things to prove this year. I want to be one of the best players in the league and I have the ability to do that."
Bosh came up with the biggest rebound in Heat history in Game 6 of the Finals last year, and was instrumental down the stretch of that game, but overall his performance was less than what the team has come to expect from him. He could just be using this as motivation, like Kobe did with the newspaper clipping, as continuing to inspire yourself after so much success can prove to be difficult.
