After less than two months of being sent to the Suns from the Clippers, Caron Butler is on the move again as he’s landed in Milwaukee.
In exchange, Phoenix receives Ish Smith and Slava Kravtsov, and will get $5.65 million in cap space, which is purported to make the waiving of Michael Beasley easier on the payroll.
One source close to talks tells ESPN that Caron Butler has been informed that he will indeed wind up with Bucks. Teams hashing out details— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) August 29, 2013
The Suns gain $5.65 million of cap space for any potential in-season trades but also save that money to make an expected costly waiver of Michael Beasley more palatable. Beasley would be owed $9 million of guaranteed salary.
Beasley has been viewed as a cancer on the team since his arrival, and after he was arrested on marijuana possession (yet again) rumors have been that the franchise wants him gone. Plus the team is taking an “addition through subtraction” approach to the upcoming year (tanking).
The Bucks gain a savvy forward who still has some good game left in him, as they eye to squeak into the playoffs out East.
