Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose left Friday night's game against the Portland Trail Blazers in the third quarter with a knee injury and did not return.

Rose was unable to put much weight on his left leg as he was helped to the locker room. There was no contact when Rose's knee buckled.

"He has pain and he felt like he couldn't push off his right knee," Thibodeau said.

Thibodeau indicated that Rose is scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday in Los Angeles to determine the extent of the damage. The coach did not offer further details about the injury during his postgame press conference.

It is not the same knee that required surgery and forced Rose to sit out the 2012-13 season. Rose tore the ACL in his left knee in April 2012.

The 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player is averaging 15.4 points and four assists per game and shooting 36 percent from the field this season.
