Arizona No. 1 in AP poll

It is the first time since 2003 that the Wildcats have occupied the top spot in the poll.

Arizona (9-0) received 63 of 65 first-place votes.

The Wildcats were sixth in the preseason poll and moved up from No. 2 last week. They are coming off victories over San Diego State and Duke.

No. 2 Syracuse picked up the remaining first-place votes. The Orange (9-0) moved up two places, as did No. 3 Ohio State (8-0). No. 4 Wisconsin (10-0) leaped four spots. No. 5 Michigan State fell out of the top spot after three weeks. The Spartans (7-1) fell after losing at home to North Carolina, 79-65. The Tar Heels re-entered the poll at No. 18.

Louisville, Oklahoma State, Duke, Connecticut and Villanova rounded out the top 10.

Kentucky and Kansas fell the furthest. The Wildcats dropped from third to No. 11 after losing Baylor, which moved up from 20th to No. 14. The Jayhawks stumbled from sixth to No. 13 after losing at Colorado, which entered the poll at No. 21.

No. 24 Missouri also moved into the top 25.

UCLA, Michigan and Dayton fell out of the poll.
